Foundation History

Shortly after the death in 2000 of our beloved founder, Charles Schusterman (z"l)*, our foundation issued an Inaugural Report chronicling his life and highlighting our grant-making activities. That report reflects much of our history starting with our founding in 1987 and continuing through 2001.

In honor of our 20th anniversary, we issued a new report chronicling the two decades of our foundation.  Read a copy of our latest Inaugural Report "Celebrating 20 Years of Values in Action."

Read our original report "A Most Notable Life."

* The notation z"l stands for the Hebrew words, zikhrono livracha, which means "of blessed memory" and is used to show respect for the deceased.

The Schusterman Foundation – Israel (SFI) was created by the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation (CLSFF) to help strengthen the fabric of Israeli society by providing funding, technical assistance and leadership for new and existing initiatives.
